
Emily Lyman is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Virginia, providing both in-person and virtual (hybrid) care. She works with clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults, and is currently accepting new patients.
Emily enjoys working collaboratively with other providers, including those in medication management, to ensure her clients receive coordinated and comprehensive care. She participates in most major insurance plans, making her services accessible to a wide range of individuals and families.
Emily graduated from George Washington University with a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and also holds a bachelor’s degree in human services. She has experience treating individuals with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transitions, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, and gender/sexuality concerns. Her passion for helping children and families was sparked by her 10 years of experience working in childcare settings prior to becoming a counselor.
Her therapeutic approach is strengths-based and person-centered, integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing to support growth and resilience.
