What Happens During the Administration of SPRAVATO®?
SPRAVATO® is given as a nasal spray in a certified medical office. During your appointment, your provider will explain the process and answer any questions you may have before treatment begins. You will administer the nasal spray yourself under the supervision of trained medical staff. The medication is typically given in multiple sprays with short breaks in between doses.
Administration and monitoring for SPRAVATO® involve more than simply receiving the medication. Because some patients may experience temporary
side effects such as dizziness, sleepiness, dissociation, nausea, or increases in blood pressure, you will remain in the office for observation after treatment. Most monitoring periods last at least two hours, so your care team can make sure you are stable before you leave.

The treatment environment is designed to help you feel calm and supported during your visit. Patients are advised not to drive after treatment, so you will need someone to take you home after your appointment.

These effects are usually temporary, which is why observation in the office is required before patients can leave safely.
Follow-up care is also an important part of SPRAVATO® therapy. Your provider will continue monitoring your symptoms, side effects, and overall progress throughout treatment.
